We as humans are largely made up of our childhood experiences, they shape and mould us including (but not limited to) how we relate to, understand and experience intimacy. I try to capture the essence of childlike innocence and a figure set in an emotionally honest world. The hands are representative of hope, warmth and love just as flowers are of life. The lack of attention and affection in a persons early formative years may lead to varying degrees of low self esteem and mental/emotional health issues. Similarly, too much of it could lead to emotional dependency. The entirety of the artwork is meant to mirror an honest conversation between adult and child. The mergence of the vulnerability of childhood and the responsibility of adulthood, embracing and accepting all that makes her, with an open mind in nature as a guide and a forgiving spirit.
