“We can only see things in others that we recognise in ourselves". The perception of self is made up of an individuals perceived uniqueness and their reflection from the outside world. I created this ongoing series in contemplation of how we as individuals are composed of what and who were exposed to, and the level of awareness we have of these ‘outside’ factors; which sometimes, sneakishly, influence our thoughts and behaviours. Because we posses the capability to examine and analyse ourselves we also possess the ability to examine and judge others. The things we like or dislike in other people tend to be the things we ultimately like or dislike within ourselves. I have developed a fascination in questions and answers concerning relatability and this is shown through my use of mirrors to replace facial features. The mirrors are a symbol of how we reflect who and what we are onto other people; it is ultimately how we relate to and understand others.
